Public Church: Making a Difference in the Lives of Communities

The Rev. Mark Hanson, presiding bishop of the ELCA and President of the Lutheran World Federation preached at the service of celebration and installion of the Rev. Dr. H. Gaylon Barker as pastor of St. Andrew's on Saturday, Feb. 9,2008.

The event was preceded by a conference on "Public Church: Making a difference in the Lives of Communities" at St. Stephen's Epicopal Chruch, as whcih Bishop hanson gave the keynote address.

Among the presenters were Rudy Marconi, Ridgefield's first selectman, the Rev. Bill Pfohl, pastor of Jesse Lee Methodist Church, the Rev. Mark Delcuze, recotr of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, the Rev. Emily Richards, assistant rector of St. Stephen's, the Rev. Paul Sinnott, associate of the bishop, New England Synod, the Rev. Laura Ahrens, bishop suffragan, Diocese of CT, the Rev. Scott Cady, pastor of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Manchester, CT, and the Rev. Stephen Sidorak, exec. dir., Christian Conference of CT

The vesper service and reception were held at St. Andrew's on Saturday evening.
