YOUTH MINISTRY

MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH

CONFIRMATION

A two year confirmation program is offered for youth who have entered 7
th grade. Utilizing a web-based interactive curriculum, confirmation classes are taught by Pastor Anderson and they meet on Sundays after church and some evenings.  At the end of two years (a year of studying the Bible and a year of studying Luther’s Catechism) youth are invited to Affirm their Faith in the rite of Confirmation, which is celebrated on Reformation Day.

SERVICE

Youth are invited to participate in a number of service projects each year, including participating in: gathering items for local agencies who serve people in need,  gathering of items for Lutheran World Relief School Kits, Health Kits and Layettes and gathering offerings for ELCA World Hunger Fund.

St. Andrew’s Youth meet regularly to plan events, service projects and fund raisers.
In addition, each fall they create Care Packages for our College Kids which involves sending out packages with goodies, needed items and prayers to over 20 of our college age youth, we participate in the Souper Bowl of Caring and our High School Youth regularly serve brunch for the church annual meeting and other special events.

TRIPS

Every three years we travel to the
ELCA National Youth Gathering, a gathering of tens of thousands of Lutheran High School Youth from all over the USA. Youth Gatherings combine study, service, worship, fun and fellowship with new friends. In 2018 we went to Houston. We are preparing for the 2021 Youth Gathering which will be held in Chicago.
